Artist | Educator | Cultural Advocate

Radhika Bahl is a devoted practitioner and teacher of Bharatanatyam, based in White Plains, New York. With over three decades of experience in the Indian classical arts, she brings a blend of tradition, passion, and pedagogy to her teaching.

Her journey began in Kerala, India, at the age of seven under the tutelage of Guru Sri Udaya Lakshmanan. Upon moving to the United States, she continued her training with the late Smt. Padmini Ramachandran and late Sri V. Krishna Kumar in New Jersey. She also expanded her classical foundation by learning Mohiniyattam from Guru Smt. Chandrika Kurup in Queens, NY. In 1989, Radhika completed her Arangetram in India, markig her graduation in the art of Bharatanatyam.

Over the years, she has performed for numerous cultural organizations across the U.S., gaining recognition for her expressive storytelling and disciplined technique. By the age of nineteen, inspired by her community’s interest, she began teaching children.

Professionally, Radhika also pursued a career as a certified Physician Assistant in Vascular Surgery after earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology. After stepping away from her medical profession to raise her family, she returned to her first love, dance.

Today, she teaches classical, semi-classical, and regional folk dances from her home studio, focusing primarily on Bharatanatyam. Her teaching integrates technique, theory, and cultural history, offering students not just dance instruction but a deeper understanding of Indian heritage and tradition.

Radhika is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts with a concentration in Bharatanatyam, with aspirations to earn a Ph.D. in Fine Arts in the near future.

Her journey is a vibrant blend of discipline, artistry, and community spirit rooted in a lifelong commitment to the classical arts.
